A FAMILY IN NEED

Moving into a new home is a daunting process; even more so for a single mother and her three young children, having had to flee their home to escape domestic violence. "Janet" moved out leaving behind much needed clothing, personal and household items. She works full time to support her family but is overwhelmed by the expenses of clothing, food, and the many items needed to make the house she is renting into a home.

Currently the family is in need of:

1. Storage bins to store clothing as there is little closet space in their new house
2. New or gently used sheet sets: twin and queen size
3. New or gently used towels: both bath and kitchen
4. New or gently used clothing:
5. Mom: business attire - pants size 0-2, shirts size small
6. 2 year old daughter : 3T
7. 5 year old son: pants 7 boys, shirt medium boys
8. 9 year old son: pants 14-16 boys, shirt large-XL

Please call with any questions or to arrange delivery of donations.

We appreciate your assistance with this family.

METNY TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR SOLOMON SCHECHTER HIGH SCHOOLS

Something new is now being offered by the New York Metropolitan Region of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism! METNY is allocating a one-time generous gift, specifically for tuition assistance, for entering ninth grade students to a Solomon Schechter High School, who meet the following citeria:

The families are members of an affiliated METNY Conservative synagogue.

The student is in need of financial aid. The Process will be as follows:

  1. The student will submit an admissions and financial aid application to the school.
  2. The high school will process the student's applications.
  3. The high school will submit the application(s) of worthy candidates to the METNY Scholarship Committee.

The Scholarship Committee will review the applications and determine the amount to be awarded to the individual student.

Prior to the final date of the student's acceptance, METNY will notify the student of the amount of his/her award.

At the beginning of the new academic year, a check will be sent to the school after verifying the student is enrolled.
